Richard (Dick) Proenneke - Twin Lakes Plane Crash

In memory of Dick Proenneke 1916 - 2003

In the spring of 1976 Proenneke flew the "Arctic Tern" back to Twin Lakes from Iowa. This was to be his most mobile year, because he had the float plane all season, yet he almost died for that mobility.

On the way "outside" to Iowa in early October, Proenneke crashed his plane between Sheep Mountain Lodge and Glennallen and was seriously injured.
